<br />This hat is named for you, my "meant-to-be" friend. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the fated day I met you I couldn't stop smiling and I knew we would be BFF's whether you liked it or not. Countless coffees, pizza playdates, tearful goodbyes and giddy reunions later, I am still thanking the holy heavens for you and I can't wait to see you again.</div>

I've been in a fog for, well, months really. Even the holidays went by fairly unceremoniously due to sickness of one family member or another. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now it's time to get healthy, get out of the funk, and be productive! </div>
<div>
<br />
Speaking of productive, here is <i>Becca</i>, my latest hat pattern. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3DOdvM4vZUs/VMa6iYyxrrI/AAAAAAAAEX8/oMTIZe0Wg2E/s1600/DSC07297.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3DOdvM4vZUs/VMa6iYyxrrI/AAAAAAAAEX8/oMTIZe0Wg2E/s1600/DSC07297.JPG" height="296" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
yarn: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
colorway: Icicle Heather</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
Raise your hand if you've experienced love at first sight...with a skein of yarn. That eye candy yarn that you just HAD to have. Then keep your hand up if that skein of yarn is still languishing away in a box in the closet or on the shelf. Poor yarn! <br />
I had a couple of these types of skeins and so I wrote a pattern for them, and I'd like to share that with you! Here's JOY:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3yGNHE5R0Mk/VCigKTVKGOI/AAAAAAAAEVQ/vkkapssgEQc/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The increases yield an elongated, wearable shape. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3yGNHE5R0Mk/VCigKTVKGOI/AAAAAAAAEVQ/vkkapssgEQc/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3yGNHE5R0Mk/VCigKTVKGOI/AAAAAAAAEVQ/vkkapssgEQc/s1600/007.JPG" height="280" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pink yarn is deliciously soft Mad Tosh Merino in colorway "Pop Rocks".</div>

<br />
It's been a while since I've crocheted anything substantial. So when I saw this *free* pattern in the WEBS catalog I knew it was the perfect pattern to get reconnected to my crochet hook. Granny squares were the first thing I learned to crochet and I even have a clear memory of my little brother learning how to bust out a granny square too (it was a little wonky). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R24DlXD1VP4/VCHkB7YsYQI/AAAAAAAAET8/xM8Mv1WSltA/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R24DlXD1VP4/VCHkB7YsYQI/AAAAAAAAET8/xM8Mv1WSltA/s1600/001.JPG" height="400" width="341" /></a></div>
This is a simple pattern called <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/grantangle"><em>Grantangle</em></a><em> </em>by Amy O'Neill Houck and is based on a "half granny". The pattern has only two increase points and is finished off with an easy scalloped edging. Perfect stashbuster potato chip crocheting!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ntGSYXjPCuM/VCH0IFl45eI/AAAAAAAAEUQ/T6yDUAAYDiw/s1600/040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ntGSYXjPCuM/VCH0IFl45eI/AAAAAAAAEUQ/T6yDUAAYDiw/s1600/040.JPG" height="327" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used 2 skeins of Noro in different bases and half a skein of DK Merino Style by Knitpicks. This resulted in a medium size but extremely cozy shawl. Since making it any bigger would result in too heavy of a garment, I stopped with two skeins. Next time I will use a lighter weight and make it the appropriate size. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yFtmrdhStJw/VCHj7in762I/AAAAAAAAETY/o8p7g1IJDJA/s1600/013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yFtmrdhStJw/VCHj7in762I/AAAAAAAAETY/o8p7g1IJDJA/s1600/013.JPG" height="256" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As many of you know, I LOVE bright colors and I think granny squares are the perfect way to show off some happy colors. I love how this turned out and I'm sure once it gets cooler it will be my go-to accessory for gloomy days. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XvTOUkl2pHM/VCHlWZuw7fI/AAAAAAAAEUE/tbLXEtef9cg/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XvTOUkl2pHM/VCHlWZuw7fI/AAAAAAAAEUE/tbLXEtef9cg/s1600/012.JPG" height="342" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I added a button to allow me to wear it the way I want to without worrying about it falling off. My kids call this the "Elsa" button. I'm sure you can guess why...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n2lIZaMvYRw/VCH3pqylpwI/AAAAAAAAEU4/p-YdMjDEbq8/s1600/059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n2lIZaMvYRw/VCH3pqylpwI/AAAAAAAAEU4/p-YdMjDEbq8/s1600/059.JPG" height="640" width="419" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's me longing for colder weather. <br />Happy hookin' everyone!</div>

<br />
Three things I'm grateful for today:<br />
<br />
The loves of my life, Daniel, Noelle and Ellie. <br />
The unconditional love of my family members. <br />
It is palpable and gives me comfort on the hardest of days. <br />
The love of God and the clear signs of His mercy and grace in the daily struggle. <br />
<br />
Good things come in threes...<br />
<br />
Speaking of which...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/in-threes-a-baby-cardigan">"In Threes"</a> is one of the most popular patterns on Ravelry, and after knitting it I can see why. <br />
Truly seamless and knits up quickly in worsted weight yarn. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_ad5q_2QsZHJG7vpjQEYuvu6_-thXSmI_xRBXa_bp3Kkqrr9BAAkLh2Bq13iy6TAOHVdQXYFS3nG0BcUROi1MSRkWzXpRBSkGWZ86HKLVFPWf715Cf0enPqmaoiafDP2PdGZBoSESLBNp/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_ad5q_2QsZHJG7vpjQEYuvu6_-thXSmI_xRBXa_bp3Kkqrr9BAAkLh2Bq13iy6TAOHVdQXYFS3nG0BcUROi1MSRkWzXpRBSkGWZ86HKLVFPWf715Cf0enPqmaoiafDP2PdGZBoSESLBNp/s1600/006.JPG" height="390" width="400" /></a></div>
Do your eyes deceive you? Nope! It <em>is </em>baby pink acrylic. But this is Brava Worsted by knitpicks. If you're going to knit with acrylic I recommend this. It glides off the needles and is soft but not too soft. No splitting issues and great stitch definition. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6zgI396QM14/VBIR9S6_JkI/AAAAAAAAESU/ELR1L0mXVqM/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6zgI396QM14/VBIR9S6_JkI/AAAAAAAAESU/ELR1L0mXVqM/s1600/007.JPG" height="290" width="400" /></a></div>
This sweater was meant for my friend's 1 year old, but after knitting it <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I realized it not only fit my little kid but my big kid too! Oops! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Ellie had fun, and loves her new sweater.<br />

<br />
I'm happy to share my new pattern with you: <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vineyard">Vineyard</a>. <br />
The cabley goodness was inspired by the connectivity and life within vines.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YLXs0lcg_HU/U7OZlAhLOWI/AAAAAAAAEQw/XdqspztkrmQ/s1600/058.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YLXs0lcg_HU/U7OZlAhLOWI/AAAAAAAAEQw/XdqspztkrmQ/s1600/058.JPG" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sample yarn: Universal Yarns Deluxe Worsted <br />Colorway: Ice Flow<br />(leftover from my Antrorse pullover)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q986wwj0llI/U7OZfrgGzeI/AAAAAAAAEQI/kH3oDkDbSb8/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iNmW23LrjZ0/U7OZd4RqZHI/AAAAAAAAEP8/AyWdDun9M7E/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iNmW23LrjZ0/U7OZd4RqZHI/AAAAAAAAEP8/AyWdDun9M7E/s1600/002.JPG" height="593" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The unique cables are surprisingly easy to work, with only a few repeats.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ypd1VyBsoSo/U7OZd10bq7I/AAAAAAAAEPs/UnXFPJR910U/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ypd1VyBsoSo/U7OZd10bq7I/AAAAAAAAEPs/UnXFPJR910U/s1600/003.JPG" height="488" width="640" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you enjoy it!<br />(Thanks again to Martha for being such a good sport!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A BIG shout-out to <a href="http://inanook.blogspot.com/">Becca</a> my bud for proofing the pattern despite her busy bee-ness. </div>

During a chatty-chat with dear pal Becca of <a href="http://inanook.blogspot.com/">Nook</a> I had a "duh" moment when discussing the Spate mitts. why not use the leftover yarn from my Onward shawl? Spud & Chloe "Sweater" yarn is easy to knit, looks great and I know from how much I wear my shawl it's an easy color to wear too.<br />
That conversation happened goodness knows how long ago but I finally made them! Right before the weather turns ridiculous here.<br />

Due to extreme laziness on my part I have not sewed buttons on my <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/ummashin/grace">Grace</a> which took me months to knit and months to block. However, I finally got around to weaving in the ends and decided since I usually don't button my sweaters anyway this was not going to stop me from wearing it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next problem...photographing myself. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I don't have a tripod doohickey and photographing a whole sweater always poses a </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So this afternoon harbored a great experiment to solve this problem. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I enlisted my lovely, genius, amazing five (AND A HALF, as she is always quick to point out) year old bebe to take pictures of her mama wearing the Grace cardigan.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The results: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love my new-ish sweater! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Heritage sock yarn is easy to knit with and makes for a super soft and cozy sweater. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For such a light knit it's very warm, and the color is vibrant and makes me happy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the lace, the tiny garter detail, and I loved knitting it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Knitting a sock yarn sweater is a serious time investment,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
but this sure was a fun way to celebrate finishing it! </div>

It is an inspiring collection of classic but modern pieces and I can't wait to delve into it!<br />
I was privileged to be a part of the test-knitting process. I knit the "Onward" shawl.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pZs5Qwl4txY/UnlY9gV3umI/AAAAAAAAEAw/Be1WJOnmgNs/s1600/038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pZs5Qwl4txY/UnlY9gV3umI/AAAAAAAAEAw/Be1WJOnmgNs/s400/038.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's the largest shawl I've knit and for me is as useful as a cardigan. I chose a blue that has turned out to be fairly neutral and works with many colors. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nzvtat0_9IM/UnlY9yhBBFI/AAAAAAAAEAs/0bBm_9xsq4o/s1600/065.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="321" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nzvtat0_9IM/UnlY9yhBBFI/AAAAAAAAEAs/0bBm_9xsq4o/s400/065.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like to wear it (giant) kerchief style.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8k5kZ6myGO4/UnlY9U6BfVI/AAAAAAAAEAU/-aJBuSNK768/s1600/029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8k5kZ6myGO4/UnlY9U6BfVI/AAAAAAAAEAU/-aJBuSNK768/s400/029.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwtgcvWqMocxOeHb77ssRDKttls5nm9CM63SR5qAaFUSgm22Gm0QlWRT_c1bXZeX1vsHHzh_Za2o0OMiVbtBesuML8xlleqSRH0e4clDlAplWxgU-uVRF4niLXvnr4WN6EZxDaoFndB7i4/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwtgcvWqMocxOeHb77ssRDKttls5nm9CM63SR5qAaFUSgm22Gm0QlWRT_c1bXZeX1vsHHzh_Za2o0OMiVbtBesuML8xlleqSRH0e4clDlAplWxgU-uVRF4niLXvnr4WN6EZxDaoFndB7i4/s400/005.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The shawl is reversible and patterned throughout, which makes for an engaging and fun knit. <br /> <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q8WOaJK0cLg/UnlY8VSR1wI/AAAAAAAAEAI/lZuzA-P3dlw/s1600/021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="321" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q8WOaJK0cLg/UnlY8VSR1wI/AAAAAAAAEAI/lZuzA-P3dlw/s400/021.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mxSL31whir8/UnlY9KtQg8I/AAAAAAAAEAQ/oUh91nI0fzg/s1600/027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mxSL31whir8/UnlY9KtQg8I/AAAAAAAAEAQ/oUh91nI0fzg/s400/027.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I knit the shawl using 3 skeins of Spud & Chloe "Sweater" yarn. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It gave great stitch definition and was easy on the hands for a wool-cotton blend. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
No pilling issues and I've been wearing the heck out of it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All in all it was a pleasure and an honor to be a part of this "journey". </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Best of luck to shannon and jane!</div>

<span style="text-align: center;">And I'm </span><i style="text-align: center;">in.</i><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0OazAr7tJZw/UiDk3vBvAqI/AAAAAAAAD-M/_1Yag8UR9ss/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0OazAr7tJZw/UiDk3vBvAqI/AAAAAAAAD-M/_1Yag8UR9ss/s400/006.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />No, I'm not going to Knit City. And I only currently have Grace on the needles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But why not seize the opportunity to knit up the entire ISLAND collection. Yeah. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not crazypants at all.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are all stash yarns (bonus) that have been waiting to turn into happy ISLAND knits. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here we go! Woohoo!</div>
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was itching to finish this and so I just bore down and went for it. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The look of love...bahahah</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It also makes for a deliciously squishy cowl when wrapped "just so". </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_aKW2ZdeEGg/UhUH22pZGSI/AAAAAAAAD9Q/tKLdbdlRems/s1600/420.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_aKW2ZdeEGg/UhUH22pZGSI/AAAAAAAAD9Q/tKLdbdlRems/s400/420.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As you know I am not one to shy away from bold colors. I think of hot pink as a neutral. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WBImIUIfnyM/UhUIuhJ-SUI/AAAAAAAAD90/MbR5dJNHpho/s1600/381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WBImIUIfnyM/UhUIuhJ-SUI/AAAAAAAAD90/MbR5dJNHpho/s400/381.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Garter stitch. Stripes. Hot pink. oh.yeah.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I knit this using tosh SOCK (stovepipe) and knit picks stroll glimmer for a little touch of bling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It hardly makes a quiet statement but it is squishy and warm and I will wear it with everything whether "they" think it matches or not. Holla!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Wednesday y'all.</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
being at home with my parents was great for me and the girls to "refresh" and get ready for our new routine.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
i'm going back to work in September and will have two girls in full-time school. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Noelle is so ready!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
wish us luck with our new routine! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
hopefully this blog will see a little more activity as we learn to balance everything.</div>
hannahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18106233173765788450noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-265727720436849229.post-89808504302830970642013-06-22T13:58:00.001-04:002013-06-22T14:00:32.931-04:00Saturday Sewing<div style="text-align: center;">
Summer is finally here, and I finally had time to reunite with my Janome...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had to <i>literally </i>dust her off poor thing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Using Shannon's nifty <i>FREE </i>reversible project bag <a href="http://www.luvinthemommyhood.com/2013/04/free-tutorial-reversible-sock-knitting.html">tutorial</a> I finally made myself a project bag.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is so clearly written and was a great way to get my sewing legs back.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/---qeUibZ6dU/UcXjZ5cvMeI/AAAAAAAAD70/BmyxOrsezJ0/s1600/IMG_0570.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/---qeUibZ6dU/UcXjZ5cvMeI/AAAAAAAAD70/BmyxOrsezJ0/s400/IMG_0570.JPG" width="300" /></a><br />
I used the same fabric for the whole bag, but I don't think it diminished the cuteness factor at all!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This random calico print reminds me of Little House on the Prairie.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c8LCXWJVHWs/UcXjYrdiWHI/AAAAAAAAD7k/I0FuIQGus2g/s1600/IMG_0563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c8LCXWJVHWs/UcXjYrdiWHI/AAAAAAAAD7k/I0FuIQGus2g/s400/IMG_0563.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Cute corners to help the bag stand up...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj255vBH0EfFkuOUbyhQZizJ7SG95aqnAV3FiwdU29C6GytmLs01DLll9TN1xlM0kDfcfBWTfekVTAg7JXN2W7jT7em2ETf_gcZEyw4VfYhj8QxUgQa2VslKoqkaQ7wpk3HKQWq9r9h-eEJ/s1600/IMG_0565.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj255vBH0EfFkuOUbyhQZizJ7SG95aqnAV3FiwdU29C6GytmLs01DLll9TN1xlM0kDfcfBWTfekVTAg7JXN2W7jT7em2ETf_gcZEyw4VfYhj8QxUgQa2VslKoqkaQ7wpk3HKQWq9r9h-eEJ/s400/IMG_0565.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
pinning, and sewing. I used to be lazy about this but the pinning is essential for a cleaner look.<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uKw2O8XHwvI/UcXjaym7kII/AAAAAAAAD78/RlbpexX3LJg/s1600/IMG_0572.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uKw2O8XHwvI/UcXjaym7kII/AAAAAAAAD78/RlbpexX3LJg/s400/IMG_0572.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This bag is such a great size, perfect for socks or bigger WIPs.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used bias tape instead of cording. Need to find something a bit sturdier but this will do for now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bIU2P3DjNLM/UcXjjE8igSI/AAAAAAAAD8E/v8xc-Z8kb28/s1600/IMG_0573.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bIU2P3DjNLM/UcXjjE8igSI/AAAAAAAAD8E/v8xc-Z8kb28/s400/IMG_0573.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm so glad I dove back in!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Weekend, y'all.</div>
hannahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18106233173765788450noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-265727720436849229.post-57500545888485335782013-06-13T10:58:00.000-04:002013-06-13T10:58:08.572-04:00Leafy Bias So yeah, it's my birthday...and i'm cuddled up in a brand new shawl...happy birthday to me!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z4amxpQBCCM/UbnZhKmekTI/AAAAAAAAD54/psdBXfCMUDk/s1600/079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z4amxpQBCCM/UbnZhKmekTI/AAAAAAAAD54/psdBXfCMUDk/s400/079.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />the pattern is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/leafy-bias">Leafy Bias</a> by Susan Ashcroft.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is such a prolific designer and I noticed that her simple patterns are really all about the yarn, which I appreciate.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/secure-html/productImages/43080Large_731b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/secure-html/productImages/43080Large_731b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The yarn is Malabrigo "Rastita" in colorway Aguas<br />Sooo soft but the leaves. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieWMcSbbKW3r8Am2vBWb09I-qIgJcbxMyBD7FcmkSLqUPvP8Hab8KQi-1yBeTAZhB6IWDN3uNKSNd-sU0RDBW6HpIFdf1G34MdXt_YUu-bUgnasWN8GOidVULLEda-2YLlG9V8YglyJat4/s1600/076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieWMcSbbKW3r8Am2vBWb09I-qIgJcbxMyBD7FcmkSLqUPvP8Hab8KQi-1yBeTAZhB6IWDN3uNKSNd-sU0RDBW6HpIFdf1G34MdXt_YUu-bUgnasWN8GOidVULLEda-2YLlG9V8YglyJat4/s400/076.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />It's long enough so I can easily wear it like a scarf </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(how I prefer my shawls) without worrying it will unwrap.<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2_6Wsqi7m_s/UbncXNkXq4I/AAAAAAAAD60/4ryFISk8-Ns/s1600/086.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2_6Wsqi7m_s/UbncXNkXq4I/AAAAAAAAD60/4ryFISk8-Ns/s400/086.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />I loved knitting these leaves! It was such an interesting knit but not overly complicated.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1u6_q2EieNs2YUEg3XAShHUgOeyelQYwXX2ruKXnnjTr4lmdgl8FAa4KaUNglRpXMXBlEP1emUxPTK_MeH5D0t0cBF1brtINW2g1oNrGlsn-WlIzmG12kr0Z1oslH56sllo82W0onc4B/s1600/101.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="337" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1u6_q2EieNs2YUEg3XAShHUgOeyelQYwXX2ruKXnnjTr4lmdgl8FAa4KaUNglRpXMXBlEP1emUxPTK_MeH5D0t0cBF1brtINW2g1oNrGlsn-WlIzmG12kr0Z1oslH56sllo82W0onc4B/s400/101.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />Artistic guitar shot. What the? Anyway, they're finally done and boy are my feet happy!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc7EVNsdle421R7R5yJmOI0clKVQHpwoXHrMa3IXuE8m_Zi_MJ1pv3AHQugTE1gStdQVOrOL0F11gvClNdKDLSGv-eh_7QYOJnYlfXQSFyuimNHXxN95muJrJltb7oHuiQIh7MW2YsPo7j/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="337" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc7EVNsdle421R7R5yJmOI0clKVQHpwoXHrMa3IXuE8m_Zi_MJ1pv3AHQugTE1gStdQVOrOL0F11gvClNdKDLSGv-eh_7QYOJnYlfXQSFyuimNHXxN95muJrJltb7oHuiQIh7MW2YsPo7j/s400/015.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
look at the cute happy stripes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-avaPx98uCiQ/Ua-wpMouUfI/AAAAAAAAD5U/xI0buCsk-ps/s1600/034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-avaPx98uCiQ/Ua-wpMouUfI/AAAAAAAAD5U/xI0buCsk-ps/s400/034.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I honestly didn't want to take them off to take this shot! haha.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My gauge weirdly has changed significantly between socks, so one is a bit bigger than the other. But who's going to be looking at them side by side? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's not a beauty contest. I refuse to let it bother me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFnk_sFVyb7s8ZFLv8Gevph2NlydL9AKkH9aPNFL5EkmXI9ulgleQovEQiKJ39HfcB8YN_9d5T9VW4f6Z80NCwH-Rh3hKCW-7Tbk3-hijtuTmh8e6cknc2SfBPH7vi9d8atVv3Xwy70Ciy/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFnk_sFVyb7s8ZFLv8Gevph2NlydL9AKkH9aPNFL5EkmXI9ulgleQovEQiKJ39HfcB8YN_9d5T9VW4f6Z80NCwH-Rh3hKCW-7Tbk3-hijtuTmh8e6cknc2SfBPH7vi9d8atVv3Xwy70Ciy/s400/017.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The short-row heel.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used <a href="http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall09/FEATjssbo.php">JSSBO</a> as the bind-off. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a little loose but I have weeny little calves so I wasn't expecting them to be anything but.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I finished my top for the <a href="http://www.luvinthemommyhood.com/2006/04/spring-tops-tanks-tees-knit-along-2013.html">TTTKAL</a> hosted by luvinthemommyhood.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/elfe">Elfe</a> designed by Astrid Schramm. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the first sweater I've made using fingering weight wool, and it really is such a treat to wear! Very drapey and light, but still warm. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The delicious yarns I used:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.dreamincoloryarn.com/">Dream In Color Smooshy with Cashmere</a> in Aqua Jet</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.sweetgeorgiayarns.com/">Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock</a> in Boysenberry</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's a little big in the arms, but otherwise I love the looser fit of it. And the colors can't be beat.</div>
